The 2019 Dakar Rally kicks off on Sunday, January 6, and Tim and Tom Coronel will be competing in it. It’s a major challenge, made possible in part by the Coronel brothers’ team. Together, they’ve worked incredibly hard over the past few months to prepare everything and get everything ready for this grueling journey. A journey of more than 5,000 kilometers, 70% of which consists of sandy terrain, spread over 10 stages in Peru, South America.
Starting this year, Movida is the communications partner for the entire Coronel Team. We handle internal communication between the vehicles using CB radio technology, as well as GPS/GPRS and Wi-Fi hotspots in both service vehicles. Iridium satellite communication is used in areas where no local networks are available at all, including satellite internet connections. All of this technology was expertly installed by our company at Team Coronel’s home base in Huizen.
