Movida’s Mission: Follow the Client

One of our earliest clients operates out of Taiwan and describes Movida as a “smart solution provider.” And that description fits us like a glove, because good service starts with listening to your customers. Our ability to listen and solve our customers’ problems is also the reason we continue to grow and expand into more and more areas. Ed Moné, Movida’s founding father, takes you on a journey through his business adventures, from IT to telecom and beyond.

The customer decides Do you remember the old days? In the shared company car, there was a list for recording the mileage of the various drivers. Only a select few had their own “company car,” a leased vehicle. For them, the list served to—manually—record business and personal mileage for tax purposes. To prevent errors, that process was automated, and that evolved into one of Movida’s specialties: tax-compliant mileage tracking. And customers demanded more: The list became an Excel spreadsheet on the computer; the phone became a smartphone and evolved into the primary data storage device. Next came automatic call forwarding to ensure reachability at a single number, along with a tracking system to monitor the car or truck. Nowadays, field staff no longer have a separate computer (or even a desk in an office), but communicate exclusively via “handheld devices” with hands-free and voice-dictation capabilities. And all these systems must be properly installed—naturally, at the customer’s location.

Without communication, everything comes to a standstill. Movida is constantly evolving in line with the latest developments and customer needs. The reverse is also true. Our first point of contact with a client is usually a seasoned entrepreneur who knows the ins and outs of their own field. This is often in the building or construction industry. Without (tele)communications, everything there comes to a standstill. You don’t even want to imagine a crane operator losing contact with the construction site. And the asphalt paver operator needs to know exactly whether rain is forecast or if it will stay dry for a while. Because moisture and bitumen don’t mix, so without the right weather information, the job can get seriously out of hand. In the event of a malfunction—of any kind—a swift response is required, and the true experts must get to work behind the scenes. These technical staff members don’t always possess the interpersonal skills needed to patiently assist an internal client. That’s why a dedicated Movida service team is on standby 24/7. They assess the problem and ensure that process managers, IT professionals, or hardware specialists can intervene quickly and in the right place. The Value of Professional Customer Service The members of our service team know our customers’ systems inside and out and are able to provide patient and effective solutions to any problem. Often, these are seemingly simple issues that cause employees to panic and for which “the in-house IT person” doesn’t have the time or patience to deal with. And, let’s be honest, it’s usually too costly for them to handle. Referring internal employees to a manual or FAQ page—often a reflex for technically trained staff when faced with recurring questions—is not a good idea. Movida’s customer service representatives are trained to recognize stress and immediately defuse the problem. This dedicated service team is available 24/7 to handle questions or malfunctions, resolving issues by phone or online and delivering or replacing necessary equipment immediately. Helping starts with listening Movida’s service representatives are therefore the first point of contact for questions big and small. Helping also means listening, showing empathy, and being able to handle hearing detailed stories—even if it’s the third time that day that a cell phone has fallen into the toilet. But most of the time, the questions are routine—about a new leased car, a different workstation, or a replacement device. When it comes to a large-scale migration, Movida’s project managers ensure that every employee is kept informed, so that the organization experiences as little disruption as possible. Now Expanding Across the Border Our customer-friendly platform now ensures that all employees at our client companies receive personalized service. They can choose their preferred hardware, while the financial settlement is clearly reported to the procurement managers. And apparently, that’s left them wanting more. Is the client embarking on an adventure and crossing the Channel to launch a new business unit in the United Kingdom? Movida is expanding beyond the mainland and serving employees in the UK on-site, at the same high standard they’ve come to expect. Does the CEO have a new hobby and want to secure his yacht in a remote harbor? We’ve developed maritime home automation solutions and have “floating drones” and waterproof phones at our disposal. Ed Moné is the founder of Movida and is active on land, at sea, and in the air, providing support for issues related to telecommunications and telematics (including vehicle and vessel security, trip logging, and tracking systems). His family-owned company supplies and installs the software and devices—ranging from landline and mobile telephony to floating drones—in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Germany.
